Three rows of app icons drifting past in opposite directions under a fixed lens in the middle: whatever passes through the lens swells, sharpens and gets its name written underneath, while the icons out at the edges stay small and quiet; a pause button stops the drift.
The mechanic
A lens that reads: magnification is a pure function of distance to the centre line, so the effect costs one transform per icon and the caption always names the icon actually under the glass.
