Icon buttons whose glyphs morph between states instead of swapping: play folds into pause as two bars, the speaker's sound waves retract and a slash draws across for mute, and the bell swings before its slash appears. Each is one SVG with transitioned paths, so the change reads as the same object changing.
The mechanic
Play/pause: two paths with matching point counts transition `d` over 0.3 s (triangle halves → bars). Mute: wave arcs scale to 0 from the speaker edge (0.2 s) and a slash draws `dashoffset 30 → 0` (0.25 s, 0.1 s delay). Bell: `rotate(−15° → 15° → 0)` swing keyframe 0.5 s on press, then the slash draws. Buttons tint to the accent when pressed.
